Weekly Note – week commencing 2.7.18

Dear Parents/Carers,

Class Transition

We hope the children enjoyed their time with their new teacher today. They will be having their second transition session with their new class teacher and in their new classroom during the morning of Monday 9th July. This will be another opportunity to familiarise the children with their new Year 3 setting.

Sponsored Swim

We were very proud of the effort the Year 2 children put in during their Sponsored swims this week. If there are any Sponsored Swim forms or money to come back please could they be returned to the school office or your child’s class teacher as soon as possible. Thank you.

Spellings

Phonic lessons have been a little disrupted today due to visits to the new Year 3 classes. As a result spelling lists will not come home until next Tuesday.

Mrs Page’s Last Day

We will be sorry to say goodbye to Mrs Page next Friday but wish her well as she begins her maternity leave. For the last 2 weeks of term her class will be taught by Mrs Arklie.

Many thanks for your continued support

Sponsored Swim Help- Mrs Page’s Class

Hello,

I hope you’re all looking forward to Sponsored Swim on Friday! A reminder that our class slot is between 1pm and 1.45pm. If there is anyone who would be willing to be a lane counter for the children please could you let me know? We would arrange it so that your child will be swimming in the lane you are counting.

Thank you in advance,

Mrs Page

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you very much for coming along to Sports Day on Monday – the children were fantastic and we had a great afternoon.

Next week in mathematics the children will be using many skills they have learnt this year to help them work through Logic Problems; they will need to reason and explain how they arrived at the answer.  In literacy the children will be continuing their pirate writing, thinking about living conditions and writing a letter to their family as if they were a pirate on board a ship.

Sponsored Swim

Please do come along or invite another relative to support your child doing their sponsored swim next week if you can. Please can all sponsored swim forms be returned to school by Wednesday of next week.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Pirate Day

Thank you so much for attending our Year 2 Pirate Day- the children all had a fabulous time and it was lovely to see you all joining in the activities with the children.

Sponsored Swim

Your child should have come home with a sponsored swim form for our Sponsored Swim which will be taking place in your child’s usual swimming lesson during the week beginning 25th June. You are more than welcome to come and support your child and watch them swim.

Sports Day

Our Infant Sports Day is taking place this Monday (18th June) at 1.15pm. Please feel free to come and cheer on your child in their sports activities. Please be reminded that children must come in to school with sun cream already applied and with a sunhat and a named water bottle. The children come to school on Monday wearing their sports clothes and each class has been asked to wear a different colour top:

Mrs Page’s Class- Yellow

Mrs Ashworth’s Class- Blue

Mrs Ash’s Class- White

Fingers crossed for nice weather!

Maths

This week we will be looking at finding quarters, halves and three quarters of simple shapes and doubling and halving numbers which will also involve using this knowledge to problem solve.

Sunhats

As the weather is improving we are now able to eat outside at lunchtime. The children must have a hat in school, particularly if they stay for lunch. If you have any hats at home that are not being used we would be very pleased to add them to our collection of spare hats.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Weekly Note – week commencing 11.6.18

Dear Parents/Carers,

Pirate Day

We are looking forward to some pirate fun on Thursday 14th June. If possible please come along at 1.30 pm and take part in some pirate related activities with your child. Children may come to school dressed as pirates on this day.

Swimming

Mrs Ashworth’s class will not swim next Thursday.

Sport your Trainers Day/Race for Life event

Next Friday 15th June, the school Council are organising a joint event to raise money for two charities.

As a school we get a huge amount of support from the Sports Commission who organise various sporting events throughout the school. The school council would like to support their charity and have arranged for everyone to come to school next Friday, wearing PE kit instead of uniform. All donations for this event will go to this charity.

Then after school they have organised our very own Race for Life community event to raise money for Cancer Research. It would be great if your child and any other members of the family are able to take part. Your child should have brought home a sign up form which also gives more details regarding timings of the event.

Children taking part will need to be collected as normal  at the end of the day and taken to the event which will be taking place on the Infant field.

Spellings

As next week is going to be very busy with pirate activities and also a visit to watch the whole school performance of the Pied Piper, our phonic lessons will be little disrupted. Therefore there will be no spelling set again until Friday 22nd June.

Advance notice

Infant Sports Day will take place on the afternoon of Monday 18th June.
Many thanks for your continued support.
