Cake sale tomorrow

At playtime tomorrow  (Tuesday), the children have the opportunity to buy cakes from year 5 in order to raise money for clean water in Tanzania. If this is something you would like your children to contribute to, please remind them to bring 50p to school.

Many thanks for your support!

If you have any unwanted, clean containers, cardboard boxes and/or plastic trays please could they be brought into school for the Year 1 & 2 children to use for junk modelling in the Discovery Zone. Thank you.

Weekly Note – week commencing 10.10.16

Dear Parents/Carers,

Maths
Next week we are continuing our work on addition. We shall be working on developing quick and accurate mental skills. The addition strategies that we will be using in class include;
• Counting on from the biggest number
• Using our number bond knowledge to help us partition for ease of adding e.g. for the calculation 17 + 7 = we can split the 7 into 3 & 4, then 17 + 3 = 20 and 4 more makes 24
• Applying knowledge of number doubles to help add ‘near doubles’ e.g I know that 6 + 6 = 12 so 6+7 = 13
• For calculation adding 9 or 11, we add 10 then adjust by 1.
Parent Appointments
Parent appointments will be taking place during the week beginning 17th October. These are 10 minute appointments which can be booked through our new online booking system, which went live last Friday. If you have not already done so and wish to make an appointment, please go to http://www.parents-booking.co.uk/stmartinsprimary to see which appointments are still available and select one that is convenient for you.

Many thanks,
Mrs Ashworth, Miss Geall, Miss Ozanne
